Dr. Jonathan Lakey is Professor Emeritus of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at UC Irvine, with more than 520 peer-reviewed publications and 50+ invited book chapters spanning diabetes, islet transplantation, stem cell technologies, and biomaterials. He is co-inventor of the Edmonton Protocol — the landmark treatment for Type-1 diabetes via islet transplantation — and brings advanced expertise in cryopreservation alongside several issued and provisional patents. His entrepreneurial work includes serving as Founder & CSO of a pet stem cell therapy company and co-founding a stem cell banking and disease-differentiation transplant company. Globally recognized for leadership in stem cell and exosome-derived therapeutic products, Dr. Lakey provides the scientific foundation for BioSignal Sciences.
